Our Story
Hopscotch and Sunshine

In 2019, we returned to rural roots when we moved to a small farm outside of Davis, CA. Starting with 5 baby chicks we grew our flock of heritage breeds to 90+ chickens in a matter of a few years (still small when it comes to poultry farms but bigger than a backyard flock). The two matriarchs of Wisteria Springs Farm and the impetuous of our chicken ethos were part of that first batch--Hopscotch and Sunshine--who were inseparable and stole the heart of our then 7-year-old daughter, Julia. Our love for chickens grew as we discovered how each hen has her own unique personality, preferences, behaviors and connection to people and the flock. We also learned that chickens have a calming presence individually and as a group. Their presence remains in how we care for each of our hens.
Sapphire and Captain

We have had goats since day one of our farm, including Boer, Oberhasli and Alpine breeds. The two registered Alpines that we added to the farm in 2020 (Sapphire and Captain) turned out to be a great breeding pair and their offspring have become sought after for both milk and as pack goats. Their male progeny are now herd sires for pack goat operations such as Butt-Head Pack Goats and dairies, such as Jollity Dairy. We expanded the breeding program in 2023 and added three additional does. We maintain a clean herd tested annually for CAE and CL.
